Mat Pogo – vocals, cd-player
born in Rome he is a vocalist and graphic artist now resident in Berlin.
He started his musical activities in the mid 80’s as a singer in several free form rock’n’roll bands.
In 1990 he was one of the founder members of the Burp Enterprise multimedia collective originally based in Florence. Still in full activity the collective then expanded internationally developing a musical label and publishing house called Burp Publications responsible for some of the most critically acclaimed productions from unprotected italian underground.
Mat Pogo, beside his path as a spontaneous songwriter, moved from avant experimental rock to more abstract material, and in 1995, together with percussionist/DJ Roberta WJM Andreucci and reed player Edoardo Ricci, he founded Jealousy Party. Still in activity JP is one of the most advanced musical units in Italy mixing with personal touch soul, improv, avant rock, noise and error music.
In the years he developed his own language as a singer/voice-artist using his experience as a rock singer, improviser and radio-artist where music, sounds, anecdotic and narrative elements fuse constantly.
Among many he performed with Jacopo Andreini, Paolo Cantù, Renato Cordovani, Carlo Actis Dato, John Dieterich, Francesco Donnini, Bruno Dorella, Luc Ex, Augusto Forti, Gi Gasparin, Gianni Gebbia, Stefano Giust, Xabier Iriondo, Roy Paci, Claudio Parodi, Jean Hervé Peron, Chad Popple, Ed Rodriguez, Michael Renkel, Eugenio Sanna, and Nicolas Wiese. And collaborated with theater/dance projects with italian company Kinkaleri and with Dutch based coreographer Giulia Mureddu.
Other projects He’s currently involved are- the abstract/ambient songwriting experiment PENATES which will have their début this summer at the Avantgarde festival in Schiporst this summer and meta grind free core trio B UNIT together with sound artist JD Zazie and drummer Peter Schlewinski, Dj collective SISTEMI AUDIOFOBICI BURP, the cutted up brutal heavy rock/dance unit POKEMACHINE together with multinstrumentalist Anders Hana, impro duo with Ignaz Schick and the dance piece MIGHTY MATPOGO by Giulia Mureddu
